Sony Pictures in Rs 250-crore contract by Pritish Nandy

Notwithstanding the failure of its first Indian manufacture Saawariya, Sony is still keen on create inroads into the Indian market. Sony Pictures universal has inked an accord with Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) to coproduce three movies under attack at the Indian movie-buffs as well as the global audience.

Though there are no bureaucrat figures yet, both the company are likely to make investments to the tune of Rs 250 crore. The worldwide movement pictures company is keen on getting it right the next time, so much so that later this month Sony Pictures chairman Michael Lynton would be airborne to India to oversee the manufacture plans personally. Interestingly, the deal has been signed between the parent company and PNC rather than Sony’s Indian supplementary — Sony activity Pictures India.

PNC chairman Pritish Nandy told ET: “I believe that Indian creativity with Hollywood money is a lethal combination. We also believe that this contract will help us reach new markets. This is a serious coproduction venture with a serious and of good reputation global partner.” Mr Nandy added that this deal will help PNC utilise Sony’s vast global distribution and manufacture know-how. “The benefit plans are still being formulated and would depend on the budget of the movies,” he added.

Both the companies would start produce the first movie called Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram which would be a comedy. The movie would be made with a budget of Rs 70 crore and would be mainly blast at Las Vegas. Sony Pictures would be supervision the manufacture of the movie.
