With an aspire to tap the Indian engineering talent, Norwegian company Tandberg, a global supplier of telepresence, high meaning videoconferencing and mobile video solutions, has made statement about the opening of its first investigate and development (R&D) technology center in Bangalore. The company’s new R&D centre at Bangalore would be its fourth skill all through the world, with the others operating in Oslo, London and New Zealand.

Mr. Pradeep Bardia, a veteran in the semiconductor industry, has been nominated as Director of the operations, whereas Lars Erik Mobaek, director of technology as R&D activities head. With the R&D strength of 230 people, the company’s new centre has the ability to scale up to a team of 80 engineers. But, it did not disclose any time period for that.

Snorre Kjesbu, vice president, Technology and novelty said, “Bangalore has got wonderful talents having good approach towards technology. Apart from bringing us closer to companies like Texas Instruments and Samsung, Bangalore R&D centre will also assist us in developing products to address the global market.”

Mr. Kjesbu also said that the new centre is a strong step towards the expansion of its global presence, and it would make the innovative technology solution in different segments including software development, embedded systems and video compression.

Named as Tandberg Technology India Private Limited, the new centre is already incorporated as a completely owned supplementary of Tandberg. The high-tech facility located in the central business district of Bangalore would have world-class equipments and infrastructure. Besides, it will showcase Tandberg’s complete range of tele-presence and high description video conferencing solutions and house audio, video and hardware labs.

Tandberg, which holds a important portion of the global video conferencing market, is also looking out for local partners in India and South East Asia in the areas of mechanical designing and contract manufacturing.
